India Forex Reserves Hit Record $785.7B

India forex Reserves have scaled a fresh lifetime high of $785.71 billion after posting an unprecedented single-week jump of $44.9 billion, according to official data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The surge highlights a dramatic long-term expansion from just over $300 billion in 2014, demonstrating the resilience of the Indian economy amid geopolitical headwinds in the Middle East.

The sharp build-up was propelled by Foreign Currency Assets (FCAs), which climbed by $47.5 billion to reach $648.17 billion. The turnaround followed targeted concessional forex swap measures introduced by the RBI to absorb currency hedging risks for non-resident bank deposits, drawing over $136 billion in fresh dollar inflows. While gold reserves eased slightly to $113.82 billion, this record buffer shields the rupee from external currency volatility, rising energy import costs, and global capital outflows.
