Israel Destroys Hezbollah Underground Hub in Lebanon9
Israel has announced the destruction of a major Hezbollah underground hub beneath the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon. According to Israeli officials, the operation targeted an extensive underground network that had been developed over many years and included tunnels, command facilities, weapons storage areas and living quarters.
The Israeli military said its forces established operational control over the ridge and cleared underground routes used by Hezbollah fighters. The network was reportedly more than two kilometres long and contained rockets, missiles, drones, anti-tank weapons and explosives. A command complex associated with Hezbollah’s Badr unit was also identified within the underground facility.
The Ali al-Taher ridge is strategically important because of its location roughly 15 kilometres from the Israeli border and its position overlooking parts of southern Lebanon. Israel says the destruction of the facility is part of efforts to prevent Hezbollah underground hub from rebuilding its military infrastructure in the area. Israeli leaders have also indicated that troops will remain in the area to prevent Hezbollah from re-establishing its presence.
The development comes amid continuing tensions despite a ceasefire framework and ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Lebanon, Israel and the United States. The situation remains closely watched as negotiations over Hezbollah’s disarmament and Israeli military withdrawal continue.
