IPL Becomes a $20.6 Billion Sporting Powerhouse, RCB Leads Franchise Valuations
The Indian Premier League has grown far beyond being just a cricket tournament. In 2026, the league’s overall business value reached an impressive $20.6 billion, marking an 11.4% rise from the previous year. The latest valuation highlights how strongly cricket, media, sponsorships, broadcasting and franchise investments are connected to the IPL ecosystem.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) emerged as the most valuable IPL franchise, with its brand value climbing to $312 million, making it the first IPL team to cross the $300 million mark. Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings followed among the top-valued franchises.
The growing valuations also reflect increasing confidence from major investors. Recent high-value ownership deals involving RCB and Rajasthan Royals show that established IPL franchises are now being viewed as major long-term commercial assets.
With a massive fan base, strong media presence and expanding global reach, the IPL continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most valuable sporting properties.
